Czech Republic eyes cooperation with Vietnamese locality

Czech Ambassador to Vietnam Martin Klepotko said his country would like to cooperate with the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang in the fields of mining, food processing and green technology.

The diplomat made the statement at a working session with the province’s leaders on April 24, adding that the Czech Republic will seek investment opportunities to build processing plants in the province and then export products back to the country.

Dam Van Eng, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said he hopes the two sides will have more cooperation programmes and projects, especially in transport, mining, clean water, environment, health care and pharmaceuticals industry.

Last year, Cao Bang province recorded GDP growth of 9.5 percent, achieved a per capita annual income of VND15.2 million (US$735) and reduced the rate of poor households by 4.6 percent.
