China respects ties with Vietnam: CPC Secretary

(VOV) - The Chinese Party, State, and people attach great importance to developing their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam.

Liu Yunshan, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee’s secretariat, made the affirmation while receiving Hoang Binh Quan, Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Commission for External Relations cum Special Envoy of CPV General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, in Bejing on November 17.

Liu cited the positive results of cooperation between the two communist parties and reiterated the CPC’s policy of promoting the relationship between the two parties and countries.

Liu, who is also a member of the Pollitburo Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee, took the opportunity to send CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping’s best wishes to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other leaders of the CPV.

Quan conveyed General Secretary Trong’s congratulations to Xi Jinping following the latter’s election to CPC General Secretary.

As China’s comrade, Quan said, the Vietnamese Party, State, and people are pleased with the successful organisation of CPC’s 18th National Congress. He suggested it will usher in a new era of development along the path to socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Quan also expressed his belief that under the sound leadership of the CPC, now headed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, Chinese people will be able to make further gains towards building a moderately prosperous society by 2020.

Quan reaffirmed Vietnam’s policy of strengthening neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with China and said he hopes both sides will invest shared efforts in raising the relationship to a new level, satisfactorily settling the issues between the two countries in the interest of both peoples, and promoting peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world as a whole.

Quan also passed on Trong’s invitation to Xi to pay an official visit to Vietnam.
