Australian Senate speaker delights at progress of ties with Vietnam

Australian President of the Senate Stephen Parry has expressed his delight at the strong development in the Vietnam-Australia relations in recent years, laying a solid ground for the two sides to upgrade their ties in the future.

Parry made the statement during his meeting on October 19 with Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Ngo Huong Nam in Canberra, adding that he highly appreciates the upcoming visit by Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

He also looked forward to visiting Vietnam next year as the two nations celebrate their 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Ambassador Nam spoke highly of the 2013 agreement between the two countries’ legislative bodies, contributing to deepening the two parliaments’ ties.

Nam later had a meeting with President of the Australia-Vietnam Friendship Society Andrew Wallace on the same day, during which said he hopes the Australia-Vietnam Friendship Society will continue acting as a bridge for friendship between the two countries’ parliaments and people.

MP Wallace, Federal Member and Queensland’s representative, vowed to do his utmost to foster bilateral relations and economic and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Queensland State.

The Australia-Vietnam Friendship Society is joined by more than 20 parliamentarians from different political parties in Australia.
