More than 40,000 people paraded in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on December 24 to welcome Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organisation. This was the grandest parade in Vietnam as it attracted a large number of people from all walks of life.
Vietnam’s WTO accession will open up new opportunities and challenges for the sports and physical culture development in Hanoi as well as in the whole country during the process of integrating into the world’s sports movement.
Nguyen Hong Hoa, a student of the Hanoi Medical College, expressed her joy to take part in the parade. Hoa said that she and other young people will study harder to make worthy contributions to the country.
Tran Thi Sau from Hai Ba Trung district in Hanoi said she is retired but still likes to parade in celebration of Vietnam’s great achievements, particularly its accession to the WTO.
At the parade, VMS MobiFone presented VND20 million to the fund of the Hanoi Association of Students, VND40 million to the fund of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and VND40 million to the fund of the Hanoi Federation of Sports.
