The Vietnamese band “Tuxedo va Ao Dai”  came in second at the 2011 K-Pop Singing Contest in the Republic of Korea, from December 5-9, with their outstanding performance: “Love oh Love” by Davichi.

The two first prizes went to bands from Kazakhstan and the Philippines.

The Korean Cultural Centre in Vietnam announced the results on December 12.

The band consists of four members namely Tran Thi Quynh Mai from the Foreign Trade University, Le Hue Thuong from the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Bui Huong Linh from Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema, and Tran Hieu Trung from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.

The band was formed by merging the two bands that won Vietnam’s national K-pop singing contests held for the northern and southern regions of the country.

Tuxedo va Ao Dai was also the only group in the Korean competition that had both male and female members.

The K-Pop Singing Contest, held for the first time this year by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), attracted 21 bands from 16 countries and territories.
