A ceremony was held on December 18 to put up the statue of Doctor Alexandre Yersin, who founded Da Lat city 115 years ago, in beautiful park named after him.
The statue was presented as a gift to Da Lat city through a fund-raising campaign launched by the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet.
The statue, lying in the middle of the park, near Xuan Huong lake, adds artistic and historic value to the city on the occasion of its 115th anniversary.
Famous sculptor Pham Van Hang has carved the statue measuring 2.5m high and 2.1m wide and weighing 25 tonnes out of a 36-tonne granite slab.
