The Yen Tu Pagoda Festival officially kicked off at 8am on February 7 (the 10th day of the first lunar month) at Yen Tu Pagoda in Uong Bi town, Quang Ninh province and will last until April 4 (the 10th day of the third lunar month).

Dang Dinh Sach, head of the Yen Tu Pagoda Management Board, said the opening ceremony for the festival attracted around 15,000 domestic and foreign tourists. Since the second day of the traditional Lunar New Year Festival, Yen Tu has welcomed more than 60,00 tourists, one and a half times more than last year.

Yen Tu is a cultural historic relic site founded by King Tran Nhan Tong.

*** Muong Lo Cultural and Tourism Week opened at Nghia Lo Stadium in Yen Bai province on February 6 as part of cultural activities in response to the “Returning to the Roots” tourism programme launched by the three northern provinces of Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai.
