Stone instruments and pottery believed to date back over 3,500 years have been unearthed in Van Don district, northern Quang Ninh province.
The 10-sq.m excavation site was discovered by a group of workers while they were restoring the Dong Trong Cave, a famous tourism site.
Archaeologists at the scene said that the relics belonged to the late Ha Long Civilization of those residing in the area more than 3,500 years ago. The artefacts are similar to other pieces discovered in Ha Giat, Ngoc Vung and other areas on the edge of Ha Long Bay.
