Vietnamese women are very modern and their fashion sense is very international. They not only wear Ao dai (Vietnamese women’s traditional long dress) or original Vietnamese style clothes, but also tend to dress in a similar manner to international women, said Simmone Fairhead, an Australian fashion designer from the Prieure Vietnam Co. Ltd.
The Contraband, one of the company’s brands, has been established for modern Vietnamese women. Inspired by her real customers, the Australian designer has unveiled her 2008 summer collection titled “On Duty/Off Duty” with numerous designs utilising soft flirtatiously feminine silks or cool natural cottons, which aims to provide her customers with comfort and glamour.
The trademark Contraband pink and fresh summer white have been the main colours used in the collection, as Ms Fairhead explained, since they are suitable to Vietnamese women’s skin colour.
“It is obvious that Vietnamese women require a wide range of different sizes than European ones since they are smaller. However, women of all shapes and sizes can wear our clothes,” assured Ms Fairhead.
The Prieure Vietnam Co. Ltd was founded by the innovative designer Simmone Fairhead in 2006 and has been successful in developing its two brands, Things of Substance and Contraband. Things of Substance focuses on foreign women living and working in Vietnam, while Contraband is mostly designed for Vietnamese women.
