Vietnam’s film “Pao’s Story”, directed by Ngo Quang Hai, was screened at the Cinema Centre Rodina of Saint Petersburg on the night of September 17, opening the Vietnam Film Week in the city.
During the cultural event, which is part of Vietnamese Days in Saint Petersburg, a series of Vietnam films were introduced for the first time to the city’s cinema goers.
Among those films are “Living in fear” directed by Bui Thac Chuyen and “Ha Dong silk dress” by Luu Huynh, which are scheduled to participate in the Cannes film festival late this year.
The participants had an opportunity to learn about the development of Vietnamese movie industry, which is comprised of 6 state-owned and 40 private film companies, whose products include feature movies, documentaries, TV films and cartoons.
The organising board also introduced a project to make a film about Ly Thai To, the king who founded Hanoi capital (then named Thang Long) in 1010.
