Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), in coordination with the Defence Ministry’s General Political Department, held a rewarding ceremony for Spratly servicemen on March 22. Gifts presented during the ceremony included modern equipment for radio transmission and reception and some VOV publications.
On behalf of VOV, Deputy Director General Le Dinh Dao handed the gifts to officers and men on duty in the Spratly Islands. The gifts reflect the warm sentiments of VOV staff towards soldiers and will help them narrow the geographic distance from the mainland, and access the latest information about Vietnam and the world, as well as alleviate their homesickness.
Lieutenant General Pham Hong Thanh, representative of the Ministry of Defence, expressed the deep gratitude of Spratly servicemen in particular and the PAVN in general towards VOV officials and employees. VOV gifts, he said, show their great sympathy with and support for Spratly servicemen. They also demonstrate the close ties between VOV staff and soldiers in border areas.
In its next working visit to Spratly Islands, VOV will send technicians to expand VOV coverage over the archipelago.
