The programme aims to preserve and develop typical cultural values of the nation through upgrading 70 percent of historical and revolutionary relic sites and 80 percent of architectural and natural cultural relics. In addition, it will help preserve 1,200 natural relic sites, collect the intangible heritages of 45 ethnic groups and compile scientific documents to preserve five intangible cultural heritages to be submitted to UNESCO for its recognition on the World Cultural Heritage List.
The programme will also build 15 satellite offices holding data banks of intangible cultural heritage in localities, preserve 20 villages and hamlets and restore 30 festivals of ethnic minority groups.
