Nearly VND1.5 billion has been raised for social and charitable activities during the Miss Vietnam 2010 finals in Ha Long City, the northern province of Quang Ninh.

Miss Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Han and two runners-up Vu Thi Hoang My and Dang Thuy Trang donated a total of VND110 million from their prize cash for the Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper’s Study Encouragement Fund.

Huynh Bich Phuong, who won Miss Beautiful Face and Most Voted awards at the national beauty contest, contributed VND45 million to the fund.

Earlier, the three top beauty queens donated 20 percent of their prizes worth VND160 million in total to Quang Ninh province’s social funds.

Miss Ngoc Han said she would present another VND10 million to Cam Pha town’s social fund.

The event’s sponsors also joined hands to support disadvantaged people in Quang Ninh. The Lien Viet Bank presented 200 televisions worth VND400 billion, the Military Bank, VND50 billion, Eurowindow, VND50 million and Tien Phong newspaper’s Study Encouragement Fund, VND15 million.

During the Gala Dinner, businesses in Quang Ninh province and guests contributed nearly VND600 million to the provincial fund for studious pupils and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s fund for former young volunteers.
