Some 20,000 residents and visitors gathered at an archaeological site in the central province of Nghe An for the seventh Vac Village Festival, which kicked off on March 7.

The three-day festival include such activities as procession, gong performance, singing contest, martial arts and folk games.

The Ministry of Culture and Information recognised Vac Village as a national archaeological site in 1999. Since then, the festival has been held annually in memory of local ancestors.

The first antique bronze drum was unearthed in the village in 1972.
