On October 10, the US Television Cable News Network (CNN) began to broadcast a 30-second clip introducing Vietnam as an attractive destination for travellers on CNN Asia channel.

The broadcast will last three months through January 13, 2008. The film will be screened twice a day at the prime time to advertise Vietnam’s tourism with 182 times in total.

The film shot by a professional CNN film crew, features the images of Vietnam with beautiful landscapes, friendly and hospitable people, arts and cuisines, Vietnamese traditional long dress (Ao Dai), Hanoi Old Quarters and Hoi An ancient town, the World Natural Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay and HCM City.

The Vietnamese Government agreed to spend nearly US$300,000 to make the film with a view to promoting Vietnam’s image to the world, and attracting more foreign tourists to the country, estimated at 4.3-4.5million in 2007.

The film shows Vietnam as a destination with diverse cultures and tourism products. Half of the film introduces the World Natural Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, which has been nominated for selection as one of the world’s seven wonders of nature.
