•  Local athletes join 3rd Asian Beach Games in China

On the women’s side, Huynh Do Hong Loan and Nguyen Thi Thu Ha defeated Mongolian counterparts 21-10, 21-3 in Group W while Nguyen Thi Tiep and Phan Thi Cam Hong beat another Mongolian pair 21-10, 21-12 as part of Group X.

In Group P of the men’s event, Nguyen Thanh Vinh and Nguyen Trong Quoc beat Turkmenistan’s Hojoev and Kichiev. Later Vinh and Quoc achieved a second win after their Tajikistan rivals withdrew from the competition.

Vietnam has sent 91 athletes to the third Asian event, scheduled from June 16-22, in the hope of entering the top ten in the overall medal tally.
