Vietnamese student from the Hanoi Conservatoire Le Thanh Binh won first prize at the international guitar contest 2006 held in Bangkok, Thailand from October 10-15.

With refined techniques, Thanh Binh has surpassed foreign rivals from different countries in the world to conquer audiences at the final round through such masterpieces as “Prelude in E BWD 1006a”  (Bach), Rositas (Tarrega), “Variations on a theme of Mozart”. This was the first time a Vietnamese student ever won first prize.

The contest is annually organised by the Bangkok Guitar Association, famous guitarists Joran Kuckic and Costas Cotsiolis in the jury.
