The only Vietnamese musician participated in a competition for orchestra conductors across Russia in the city of Upha from November 21-26 won the consolation prize.

Tran Nhat Minh, a postgraduate at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, was the only foreigner and was one of the three musicians representing the Moscow-based conservatory to take part in the competition.


Born in 1981, Minh graduated from a conservatory in Russia in 2004. He later received a scholarship to return to Russia for a postgraduate programme at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
