The traditional Vietnamese song, music and dance troupe will make a performance tour of Japan from October 1-21 at the invitation of former Japanese Prime Minister Murayama Tomiichi, now president of the Japan-Vietnam Council for Peace and Friendship (JVPF).

The delegation comprises of artists from the Bong Sen Traditional Song, Dance and Music Theatre and lecturers from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory.

The activity aims to introduce Vietnamese culture to Japanese audiences and raises funds for Agent Orange victims at the rehabilitation centre and vocational training centre in northern Thai Binh province.

The two centres were built in 2002 and 2004 at the cost of more than US$80,000. Every year, JVPF holds cultural and social activities to raise funds for the centres.

The Vietnamese art troupe will present 13 performances in 10 cities, including Kanagawa, Aomori, Osaka and Saitama.
