Vietnamese film Ao Lua Ha Dong (Ha Dong Silk Dress) directed by overseas Vietnamese Luu Huynh has won the audience vote prize at the 11th Busan International Film Festival.

The film, jointly produced by Phuoc Sang Studio, Viet Studio and Anh Viet Company, features the ups and downs of a Vietnamese family through the two resistance wars against foreign invaders. It tells the story of the misfortunes of the two central characters, Dan and her humpback husband, and their attempt to hold on to a precious Ha Dong silk dress that belonged to Dan’s mother. It includes accurate representations of Vietnamese people and respects the beauty of traditional ao dai (Vietnamese long dress).

Ten countries purchased the copyright of the film at the Asian Film Market 2006 held on the sidelines of the nine-day festival which closed on October 20.

After the Busan Film Festival, Ao lua Ha Dong will attend two international film festivals in Taiwan and Norway.
