The American Academy of Monitor Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has officially invited Film Director Dang Nhat Minh to attend a special ceremony in honour of his contributions to Vietnamese cinematography.

The ceremony will take place in Hollywood on the evening of November 10, 2010. There will be talks between Minh and representatives of American cinema, through which AMPAS will introduce his films to the US audience.

Minh’s film ‘Mua oi’ is expected to be screened right after the ceremony.

In addition, from November 5-14, AMPAS is holding a Vietnamese film week entitled ‘New Voices from Vietnam’, featuring films of various types.

Films being shown include ‘Bi, dung so’ directed by Phan Dang Di, ‘Canh dong bat tan’ (Endless field) by Nguyen Quang Binh, ‘Trang noi day gieng’ by Nguyen Vinh Son, ‘Choi voi’ (Adrift) by Bui Thac Chuyen, ‘Bay rong’ (Dragon trap) by Le Thanh Son, and the ‘Owl and the Sparrow’ directed by Stephane Gauger.
