The Embassy of Vietnam in Denmark and the Danish-Vietnamese Association (DVA) jointly held a “Day of Vietnamese Culture” in Copenhagen.

Representatives from the Danish Foreign Ministry, the DVA, local companies and the community of overseas Vietnamese in the country attended the event.

Participants had a chance to discover Vietnam through photos about Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, the former imperial city of Hue, the ancient town of Hoi An and the My Son relic sites.

On display were Vietnamese embroideries and Dong Ho folk paintings in addition to the live performances of traditional musical instruments and the documentaries about the country’s land, people, dances and music.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark Vu Van Luu spoke of Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development and external relations in recent years and its major events in 2010, including the celebrations of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

The ambassador highlighted progress in the Vietnam-Denmark friendship and its multifaceted cooperation in 2009, especially regarding the official visit to Denmark by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and a state-level visit to Vietnam by Danish Queen Margrethe II.

DVA Chairman Olerith and representatives of Danish companies shared memories of Vietnam as well as their projects and plans to expand cooperation with Vietnam in the future.
