The semifinal round of the contest for “Beautiful ladies from former Vietnamese capitals” took place in Hanoi on May 21. The jury of the contest comprises familiar artists and culture experts such as professor and composer Vinh Cat, historian professor Le Van Lan, and people’s artist Tam Chinh.

The 46 candidates had to take knowledge and talents tests. The contest became very exciting when many candidates decided to sing folk songs, while others showed their skillfulness by performing traditional dances, painting or playing a 16-string instrument. Girls were very confident in their presentations about women’s beauty, traditional cultural characters, or well-known sites in their localities.

During the evening of May 22, participants joined in a show of Vietnamese dresses and casual clothes worn by ladies in royal palaces. The jury will later announce the list of the 15 girls qualifying for the final.
