China’s Yunnan circus troupe will perform in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and some other localities from February 18 to March 18 during the Vietnam’s traditional Lunar New Year festival which falls on February 17.

The Vietnam Circus Federation held a press briefing to announce the event in Hanoi on January 30. The Chinese circus troupe will perform at the invitation of the Vietnam Ministry of Culture and Information and the Vietnam Circus Federation.

They will introduce 15 circus acts, many of which were awarded at international competitions.

Vu Ngoan Hop, director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, said a good part of the ticket sales will be allocated for poor people and children in difficult circumstances so that they can enjoy a happy Tet holiday.

Director Hop also announced that the Vietnam Circus Federation has been invited to perform in Thailand, Taiwan and Laos sometime later this year to mark the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic ties and to promote exchanges between Vietnamese and foreign circus artists.
