Vietnamese athlete wins silver at Asian Grand Prix
(VOV) -Vietnam’s sole representative at the Asian Grand Prix in Thailand, runner Do Thi Thao, came in second in the first leg of the women’s 800 meter event on May 4.
As a replacement for injured veteran Truong Thanh Hang, Thao had to compete fiercely with strong rivals from Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
She crossed the finish line in two minutes 7.60 seconds, just a hair behind the winner Rubiko Kubo from Japan, who ran the race in two minutes,7.41 seconds.
The second leg of the event will take place in Chonburi, Thailand on May 5.
