Vietnam’s photos collection titled “Preserving the traditional cultures of ethnic groups in Vietnam” has won the highest award at the 29th black and white photography contest, Biennial FIAP, organised by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), in Slovakia, announced Chu Chi Thanh, a FIAP official in Vietnam.
With 219 points, the title, for the first time, went to the collection, which consisted of photos of a number of Vietnamese famous photographers such as Hoang Quoc Tuan, Tam Thai, Chinh Huu, Bao Hung, Vuong Quoc Kim, Tran Phong, Ngo Huy Tinh, Nguyen Long, Le Quang Phu and Ngoc Thai.
An exhibition and an awards ceremony will be held in August at the FIAP’s conference in Slovakia.
The triumph is considered an advantage for Vietnam in its bid to become the 30th host of the contest in 2010 to mark the 1000th birthday of Thang Long – Hanoi.
The international black and white photography contest, biennially organised by FIAP, is one of the biggest photography competitions in the world.
