Famous Vietnamese and US writers like Nguyen Duy, Nguyen Quang Thieu, Lam Thi My Da, Kevin Bowen, and Larry Heinemann have all accepted invitations to the Vietnam-US Literary Seminar which will be held in Hanoi from May 28-June 2.

The event, jointly sponsored by Hanoi University of Culture and the William Joiner Centre of Massachusetts University (a Centre for the Study of War and Social Consequences), will explore the mission of Vietnam’s literature and the contribution of American writers to bringing Vietnamese literature to the US.

The seminar will focus on three major topics: activities of U.S writers, translators, cultural and social researchers, newspapers, magazines, and publishers in presenting Vietnamese literature and culture to the American audience over the past 35 years; activities of Vietnamese writers, and cultural and social researchers in the US in organizing cultural exchange programmes, seminars, and research; and the influence of Vietnamese culture and literature on American perceptions of Vietnam.
