Vietnam tops SEA Rowing Champs in Malaysia
(VOV) - Vietnam has triumphed at a Southeast Asian Rowing Championships in Malaysia, bringing home five golds, four silvers and a bronze.
On May 19, Vietnamese rowers snatched three gold medals in the women’s lightweight coxless pairs, women’s lightweight double sculls, and men’s lightweight single sculls, and two silver medals in women’s single sculls and men’s lightweight quadruple sculls.
Earlier, they won two gold medals in women’s lightweight single sculls and women’s lightweight quadruple sculls; two silver medals in men’s lightweight double sculls and men’s eight; and a bronze medal in men’s lightweight coxless pairs.
Vietnam carried off 5 golds, four silvers and a bronze in total, defending its championship title. It was followed by Indonesia (3golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronzes), and the Philippines (2 golds and a silver).
The tournament was a test for Vietnamese athletes in the lead up to the upcoming 27th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) to be held in Myanmar later this year.
