The Government has given the green-light to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT)'s plan to air tourism advertisement spots on the Cable News Network (CNN).

According to Pham Huu Minh, Head of the VNAT's Tourism Promotion Department, US$400,000 will be spent on TVCs featuring Vietnamese tourism on the 24-hour cable television network.

A US$50,000 clip to promote Vietnam's images, which is made and sponsored by CNN, will appear twice a day on the channel's prime time for three consecutive months, according to the plan. With this, the VNAT hopes to attract more foreign visitors to the country.

Since the beginning of this year Vietnam has welcomed 1.8 million foreign holiday makers. Tourists from the Republic of Korea currently top the list with 223,000, followed by Chinese, American and Japanese visitors.
