The proposal was made by the Vietnam Olympics Committee (VOC) at a recent conference of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).

Accordingly, the 15 proposed events are sepak takraw, volleyball, soccer, pencak silat, wood ball, handball, marathon swimming, wrestling, kabaddi, dragon boat racing, boat racing, water skiing, shuttlecock, diving and vovinam.

OCA also suggested Vietnam add three more events to the competition list, namely basketball, water ball and motorboat racing, which were successfully organized in previous games.

The central coastal province of Khanh Hoa will be the major venue for the eight-day games, with neighbouring Danang city and Binh Thuan province also hosting some sporting events.
