Vietnam placed 2nd at 16th ASEAN University Games
(VOV) -With a total of 56 gold, 38 silver and 25 bronze medals the Vietnamese sports team was placed second only after Malaysia at the 16th ASEAN University Games (AUG) held in Laos from December 12-20.
Most notably, its female squad successfully defeated archrival Thailand, considered to be the strongest in the football event.
This year’s AUG attracted more than 2,500 athletes from different universities in 11 ASEAN countries. The Vietnamese team had 258 members competing at 12 out of 17 events.
The next AUG will be held in Indonesia in 2014.
