The result is partly attributed by Miss Vietnam Mai Phuong Thuy. Thuy was among 17 of the most beautiful women for the Miss World 2006 contest and received high votes on the Internet.

The “Grand Slam” ranking was launched in 2003 by Global Beauties to measure the performances of countries participating in the five most acclaimed beauty pageants in the world: Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Earth, and Miss Tourism Queen International.
