The youth unions in Vietnam and Laos should pay more attention to educating young people of their respective countries about the traditional friendship between the two countries in general, and between the two unions in particular.

Director of the Commission for Mass Mobilisation under the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Tong Thi Phong made the statement at a reception for Khamphanh Sithidampa, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union (LPRYU) who has been in Hanoi for a visit from December 9-12.

Mrs Phong highlighted the efforts exerted by the two youth unions to share experiences in organising movements for young people, establishing young entrepreneurs' associations, training personnel and conducting volunteering activities.

Previously, a delegation of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam, headed by First Secretary Dao Ngoc Dung, held talks with the delegation of the LPRYU.

The two sides discussed measures to consolidate the traditional friendship between the two youth unions and to increase their co-ordination in various activities at the common border,  with participation of young volunteers, students and entrepreneurs.
