A 29-strong delegation from Vietnam will join the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme 2007 (SSEAYP) in Japan from October 31 to December 12.

Chu Xuan Viet, General Secretary of the National Committee for Vietnamese Youth, said on October 8 that the ship will depart from Japan’s Yokohama Port and visit five Southeast Asian countries, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. The ship is scheduled to anchor in Vietnam from December 1-4.

During this year’s “Youth’s Participation in Social Activities” programme, delegates will discuss eight topics relating to culture, environment, information, international relations, school education, communicational work, voluntary activity and community development.

SSEAYP is the region’s largest youth exchange programme with the participation of 10 ASEAN countries and Japan. Since 1974, it has been launched annually to strengthen the friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between Japanese and Southeast Asian youths.

Vietnam started to join the programme in 1996.
