The 35th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSEAYP) '08 has started its voyage in Japan, carrying 40 Japanese and 290 other young people from ASEAN countries on board.

During the 50-day journey, the Nippon Maru ship will bring the youth to ASEAN countries for culture exchange and visits to hospitals and schools.

The Vietnamese delegation is comprised of 28 members, led by Dang Diem Quynh, an MC from Vietnam Television.

Under the framework of the programme, the ASEAN-Japan Youth Leader’s Forum was held in Tokyo, Japan, on October 27, drawing over 300 youths from the host country and ASEAN member countries. Participants enjoyed art performances and took part in discussions and cultural exchange between Japan and ASEAN countries.

The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme was established in 1974 and Vietnam has participated in its activities since 1995.
