The first Film Festival for French-speaking countries opened in the Algerian capital of Algiers on the evening of March 23 , drawing the participation of 17 countries from Asia, Europe, America, and Africa, which have relations at the ambassadorial level with Algeria.

The Vietnamese delegation to the opening ceremony was headed by Nguyen Van Hao, Vietnamese chargé d’affaires to Algeria.

The festival, entitled "Dialogue and Cultural Diversity", will last for 10 days and feature 23 films, including documentaries, feature films and cartoons.

Vietnam sent two documentaries as entries to the festival, "Vietnam – far but near" and "Vietnam – an affectionate country". The two films introduce the diverse culture of Vietnam and the country’s renovation achievements, as well as its global integration process.
