The festival, which aims to present the most outstanding Vietnamese films of the last 18 years, will include original versions of 11 films to be shown at Megastar Cineplex.
Films to be shown include Đời Cát (The life of Sand), Lụa Hà Đông (White Silk), Dòng Máu Anh Hùng (The Rebel), Hạt Mưa Rơi Bao Lâu (The Bride of Silence), Thung Lũng Hoang Vắng (Deserted Valley), Vị Đắng Tình Yêu (Love’s Bitterness), Những Cô Gái Chân Dài (Long-Legged Girls), Đẻ Mướn (Hired Pregnancy), Hoài Vũ Trắng (White Hoai Vu Flower), Hồn Trương Ba, Da Hàng Thịt (Truong Ba’s Soul in a Butcher’s Body), Sài Gòn Nhật Thực (Sai Gon’s Solar Eclipse).
Vị Đắng Tình Yêu, made in 1990 and starring Thuỷ Tiên and Lê Công Tuấn Anh, is the oldest film to be shown at the festival.
The opening ceremony of the festival was held on the evening of October 9 in the presence of famous filmmakers, actors and directors whose films will be shown this week.
The festival is expected to be held annually at Megastar. Tickets will only cost VND30,000, half of the daily price, to drum up support from Vietnamese cinema-lovers.
