An exhibition entitled “Dragon and Butterfly” is taking place at Vittoriano Square in Rome, Italy to display more than 80 works by over 30 Vietnamese painters of various generations from the time of two resistance wars until today.

The exhibition is considered a special event, as it has been reserved for Roman organisations and individuals only.

The paintings were chosen mainly by Italian fine art experts, headed by critic Angelo Bucarelli. Apart from the collection of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, many works were borrowed from the collections of individuals and galleries, including paintings by well-known Vietnamese artists Bui Xuan Phai and Tran Van Can selected from the collections of the two former Italian ambassadors to Vietnam.

The exhibition is also displaying 16 selected sets of traditional costume under the management of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.
