Construction began on a tourism village in Dong Mo district of northern Ha Tay province on May 19 as part of a national project to promote the culture of Vietnam’s extensive ethnic minority groups.

The date was chosen to mark the 117th birth anniversary of the late President Ho Chi Minh.

The 198-ha village will incorporate traditional architectures and features of the country’s 54 ethnic minority groups. It will also host various areas for festivals and sports activities.

Once completed in 2020, the project, entitled “Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village”, will serve as national cultural centre.
