In the individual events, Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh easily thrashed world No.32 Hsu Jen Hao in two sets (21-18 and 21-18) in only 42 minutes but his team mates Ha Anh lost 0-2 (2-21, 6-21) to Hsuan and Hoang Nam 1-2 to Yu Lin.

In the doubles events, Bang Duc/Manh Thang and Hoang Nam/Bao Duc were also defeated by the Taiwanese opponents.

With two losses against China and Taiwan at the tournament, the Vietnamese team was disqualified from the Cup competition.
