A series of celebrations of the friendship and co-operation between the Russian province of Ulyanovsk and Vietnam culminated in "Vietnam Day" on July 10.

The event included a pictorial exhibition on the land and people of Vietnam, a trade promotion campaign and an art performance.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Nganh and Ulyanovsk Governor Sergei Morodov attached importance to the traditional relations of co-operation between Ulyanovsk and its sister province of Nghe An in particular and between the two countries in general.

A dinner hosted by Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Ngach introduced a glimpse of Vietnamese culinary art.

"Vietnam Day" was marked by two events of political significance. One was the laying of a board naming an avenue after the late President Ho Chi Minh and a stone-laying ceremony for the construction of a "Vietnam Corner" in the Park of Friendship between Nations.

The Vietnamese delegation in Ulyanovsk met with local partners to discuss possible contracts and opportunities for production and services projects in the province.

Ulyanovsk is Lenin's native province and is twinned with Nghe An - the native province of President Ho Chi Minh.
