Vietnam currently third at ASEAN Para Games
(VOV) -Vietnam’s 10 additional gold medals January 17 have kept the team in third on the medal tally at the ongoing 7th ASEAN Para Games in Myanmar.
Outstanding performances from Vietnamese swimmers, weightlifters, and track-and-field athletes were particular highlights during the most recent day of competition.
Swimmer Du Thi Lan set a new Para Games record in the women’s 100m breaststroke. Nguyen Thi Thuy also broke records in the women’s long jump.
Vietnamese representatives have already won 32 gold, 42 silver and 47 bronze medals.
Vo Thi Thu Thuan scored a double victory at the Games by winning gold medals in the women's F42-class shot put and javelin events. Thuans best attempt in shot put was 7.23m, while her longest throw in the javelin event was 21.15m.
In weightlifting, Dang Thi Linh Phuong won the gold medal in the womens 50kg event by lifting a total of 85kg, shattering the previous Games record of 78kg.
