A Vietnam Cultural Week will be held in Cambodia from August 28 to September 1 to mark Vietnam's 61st National Day (September 2), announced the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts at a press conference in Phnom Penh on August 22.

The event will be jointly organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Information, the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, and the Vietnamese embassy in Cambodia.

The cultural week aims to boost the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, said Ouk Socheat, Under Secretary of State for Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia. It also aims to provide opportunities for artists, actors and actresses as well as cultural workers of the two countries to exchange experiences with a view to preserving and developing Vietnamese and Cambodian cultural identities.

The concerned Cambodian agencies have devised a plan to protect the copyrights of Vietnamese cultural and fine art works displayed during the cultural event, Mr Socheat told the press.

He also affirmed that the two ministries have agreed to organise the Cambodia Cultural Week in Vietnam in the near future.
