More than 60 directors of museums and archaeologists from Asia gathered in Yunnan, China on September 18 to attend a forum held by the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and the Yunnan Ethnics Museum.

During the five-day forum, participants will discuss three major topics of cooperation among museums, protection of intangible cultural values, and development of ethnics museums and customs.

Speaking at the forum, director of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology Nguyen Van Huy said Asian countries share many common cultural values and accelerating cooperation among directors of museums and archaeologists will be an important channel for promoting Asian cultures.

Participants will have the chance to visit an exhibition of cloth of the Thai ethnic people featuring 400 types of patterns, weaving tools and weaving performances of Thai ethnic artisans from six countries along the Mekong River, including Vietnam, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Cambodia.
