Austria’s famous Vienna Operetta Orchestra will take part in a sole performance at the Hanoi Opera House on November 12 to raise money for leprosy patients in northern Tuyen Quang and Dien Bien provinces.
The concert was announced by the organising board of the 2008 Toyota Classics at a press conference on November 4.
The concert is under the baton of founding conductor Siegfried Andraschek, together with featured vocalists Michael Suttner (tenor) and Izabela Labuda (soprano).
The orchestra will perform popular favourites from the Golden and Silver eras of Viennese operetta, penned by such greats as Johann Strauss and Franz Lehar.
Opera singer Nguyen Bich Thuy
In particular, the event will be joined on stage by Vietnamese opera singer, Nguyen Bich Thuy, the promising young talent who was voted one of Vietnam’s Top Ten Young People of the Year in 2003.
The concert broadcast will be live from the Hanoi Opera House on VTV1 channel at 8pm on November 12.
