State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on September 8 received writers from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia who are in Hanoi to attend their first conference.
The Vice President applauded the successful organisation of the conference and the initiative to present the Mekong River Literature Prize to the best works on the friendship between the three neighbouring countries, saying that the award would encourage the creativity of writers.
She expressed hope that the winning works will be translated into the Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodian languages to serve readers from the three countries.
Forty five writers attended the conference on September 6, calling for an increase in translations of their literature works and exchanges of visits by writers from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia to to share experiences in writing about these countries.
