The Alma Venezuela (Soul of Venezuela) band, currently on a tour in Vietnam, recorded their songs about Uncle Ho (Ho Chi Minh), General Vo Nguyen Giap, and Hero Nguyen Van Troi in VOV’s studio on December 15.

The songs they wrote include Gran Maestro Ho (Dear Uncle Ho), Viva el heroe (Long live Hero Van Troi), Canto al General Giap (Praising General Giap) and a song in praise of the land and people of Venezuela.

“Our people know Vietnam through the images of Uncle Ho, General Vo Nguyen Giap, and revolutionary martyr Nguyen Van Troi,” said Juan Gutierrez, head of the band.

Gutierrez added that it’s the admiration for these figures that has inspired Venezuelan artists to compose songs about Vietnam.

According to Gutierrez, Ho Chi Minh, General Giap, and martyr Troi are heroes in the eyes of not only Vietnamese but also other people around the world, and the Venezuelan people have followed their examples to struggle for national independence and liberty.

Young singer Juan Jose Gutierrez Bello, a member of the band, said he is very happy to sing songs written by his father about Vietnamese leaders and heroes.

The five-member Alma Venezuela, set up in 2008, will give performances at the Hanoi Polytechnic and the National Music Conservatoire.

They will return to Vietnam during the Hue Festival in mid-2012 with newly composed songs.
