The Ministry of Culture and Information and the US Embassy in Vietnam on July 20 unveiled results of a project to preserve a collection of lacquered and gold-trimmed furniture that made from the 18th and 19th centuries.
After seven months of work at the Vietnam History Museum, the project has helped restore a collection of 70 historical and art artefacts.
Deputy Director of the Vietnam History Museum Dinh Van Thin said the initiative proved to be a success with a number of the pieces of Vietnam's "APEC Images and Vietnamese Cultural Heritages”.
The project was sponsored by the US Ambassador's Funds for Cultural Preservation, which was set up by the US Department of State in 2001 to help less-developed countries preserve cultural heritage. The fund has supported six projects in Vietnam so far.
