Fifty photographs by 20 Ho Chi Minh City children star in an exhibition in Hanoi Children’s Palace titled Vietnam Through Children’s Eyes.

The exhibition, sponsored by the Vietnam Artistic Photographers’ Association, was of colour photographs taken by children in District 2.

The photos were taken in various regions throughout the country that the young photographers had visited during the past five years.

Mai Huong, whose daughter is studying culture at the Children’s Palace, stopped to contemplate the exhibition.

“I’m impressed by these works. They capture their subjects professionally with perfect brightness and meaningful content,” Huong said. “Several pictures made me believe they were taken by experienced photographers.”

Many viewers had the same feeling, “many children captured their parents hard at work, and the photos are taken with sympathy and understanding,” said 10-year-old Ha Linh.

Linh said that she was particularly interested in Niem Dam Me (Passion) by Pham Tuan Tu, 15.

“Tu took a photo of a boy passionately making a pottery vase. Thanks to District 2’s Cultural Centre, the children can experience many interesting things in life, while I just learn at school.”

The photographers showed their experience when capturing landscapes of mountains, sea, sand-banks and fields. The photo Bien Thuan An (Thuan An Beach) by Pham Minh Thao Nhi, 13, is a prime example.

Visitors can feel a child’s soul coming out in Hon Nhien (Naïve), a photo of a group of happy, smiling children by Nguyen Kim Han, 17.

The photos have already been exhibited in various other cities, including hue, Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City.

The exhibition runs until August 23 at the Hanoi Children’s Palace, Ly Thai To Street, Hanoi.
