Titles conferred by UNESCO on Vietnam will be tapped in order to boost the country’s cultural diplomacy as well as local socio-economic development.
This is the theme of the sixth national conference on biosphere reserves and world heritage sites in Vietnam held by the National UNESCO Committee in coordination with Quang Binh province’s authorities in Dong Hoi city on August 11-12.
On the first day of the conference, the effects of the UNESCO titles on the socio-economic development of localities earning the titles were reviewed by speakers who are from concerned central agencies and 11 provinces.
UNESCO titles have a positive impact on local socio-economic and tourist development, a number of speakers concluded.
Experiences in preserving biosphere reserves and world heritage sites were also shared among the concerned officials.
